I’m Dr. Cari Schaffer, and I’ve lived long enough to know that a home just isn't a home without the sound of paws on the floor or the steady presence of livestock in the field. Here at the Lancaster Veterinary Clinic, we don’t just see "patients"—we see the companions that keep you company on the porch and the animals that work right alongside you.
Located in the Arrow Ridge Business Park, we’ve made it our mission to be a place where folks in Lancaster and all over Grant County feel welcome the moment they walk through the door.
One thing I’m particularly proud of is that our clinic is the home of the Grant County Humane Society. It’s a blessing to be able to look after the ones who don't have a voice, making sure they’re healthy and cared for until they find a lap of their own to curl up on.
While we’ve got the heart and the tools to help all kinds of creatures, we spend most of our days looking after small animals. We know how much your pets mean to your heart and your health.

The Lancaster Vet Clinic is a mixed animal practice. We work with all kinds of large and small animals. Anyone who needs help with their livestock or pets is welcome to contact us. If we can’t help you, we will find someone who can. The clinic is owned by veterinarians Sally Harper and Cari Schaffer.
When you see the holiday through your pet’s eyes, the big guy in the red suit may seem kind of frightening. And that’s not all - the home filled with scents of tasty but possibly unhealthy and dangerous foods, the noise of the door opening and closing as guests arrive makes their hearts race, strangers scares them, and ornaments look an awful lot like toys. Plus there’s the tree - which looks like an indoor bathroom to your dog.
We were pleased to have castrated a record 480 cats at our free clinic this year. We had only 3 vets working, but with the help of all the staff plus 6 volunteers, we were able to get the cats all done by 12:30. It was a crazy morning with people standing in line outside in the cold wind, but everything ran smoothly. Thanks to all who brought in cats and spread the word of the event.
