I’m Dr. Cari Schaffer, and I’ve lived long enough to know that a home just isn't a home without the sound of paws on the floor or the steady presence of livestock in the field. Here at the Lancaster Veterinary Clinic, we don’t just see "patients"—we see the companions that keep you company on the porch and the animals that work right alongside you.
Located in the Arrow Ridge Business Park, we’ve made it our mission to be a place where folks in Lancaster and all over Grant County feel welcome the moment they walk through the door.
One thing I’m particularly proud of is that our clinic is the home of the Grant County Humane Society. It’s a blessing to be able to look after the ones who don't have a voice, making sure they’re healthy and cared for until they find a lap of their own to curl up on.

The Lancaster Vet Clinic is a mixed animal practice. We work with all kinds of large and small animals. Anyone who needs help with their livestock or pets is welcome to contact us. If we can’t help you, we will find someone who can. The clinic is owned by veterinarians Sally Harper and Cari Schaffer.
Sally recently attended a Dairy Wellbeing Workshop in Green Bay sponsored by the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW). The attendees were a mix of veterinarians, producers and tech college students which made for lots of good questiaons. One of the highlights was a tour of the American Food slaughter plant.
Did you know that it’s National Pet Dental Health Month? The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) started this awareness campaign several years ago to alert people about the importance of caring for their pet’s oral health. Although most pet owners take excellent care of their dog or cat, many often overlook tooth brushing and scheduling regular professional cleanings. The result is that 80 percent of companion animals have some form of dental disease by the time they reach age three. The Lancaster Veterinary Clinic veterinary team encourages you to strongly consider the importance of dental health for your pet.
We know that most of you are not involved with producing pigs anymore, but these new rules affect movement of all domestic swine, even those kept as pets. The new rules will go into effect on February 1st.
