Nurturing the Bond Between You, Your Best Friend, and your production partners
At Lancaster Veterinary Clinic, we believe that animals aren't just pets—they are family. Owned by Dr. Cari Schaffer, our practice is built on the foundation of the human-animal bond. We understand the joy, comfort, and unconditional love your companions bring to your life, and our mission is to protect that precious relationship through every stage of their journey.
We pride ourselves on being a full-service animal practice, welcoming all species. Whether you are visiting us for a routine checkup or a complex procedure, our team provides a compassionate environment where you and your animal feel heard, respected, and cared for.
We offer a wide range of medical, surgical, and dental services to ensure your companion stays healthy and happy:

Surgical Excellence: From routine spays and neuters to more complex soft-tissue surgeries.
Dental Health: Professional cleaning and oral surgery to keep those smiles healthy and pain-free.
Geriatric & Life-Stage Support: Specialized care for our senior friends to ensure their golden years are comfortable.
Referral Network: If your animal requires a specialist, we will coordinate with our trusted network to ensure they get the exact care they need.
"If we cannot help you, we will find someone who can. Your animal's well-being is our only priority." — Dr. Cari Schaffer
I’m Dr. Cari Schaffer, and I’ve lived long enough to know that a home just isn't a home without the sound of paws on the floor or the steady presence of livestock in the field. Here at the Lancaster Veterinary Clinic, we don’t just see "patients"—we see the companions that keep you company on the porch and the animals that work right alongside you.
Located in the Arrow Ridge Business Park, we’ve made it our mission to be a place where folks in Lancaster and all over Grant County feel welcome the moment they walk through the door.
One thing I’m particularly proud of is that our clinic is the home of the Grant County Humane Society. It’s a blessing to be able to look after the ones who don't have a voice, making sure they’re healthy and cared for until they find a lap of their own to curl up on.
While we’ve got the heart and the tools to help all kinds of creatures, we spend most of our days looking after small animals. We know how much your pets mean to your heart and your health.
Practical Care for Dogs and Cats: Whether it’s a brand-new puppy or an old friend who’s slowing down a bit, we provide common-sense, compassionate medicine. We focus on keeping them comfortable so they can stay by your side for a long time.
Support for Our Farms: We haven't forgotten the roots of this county. We provide services for large animals because we know that the health of your livestock is the health of your livelihood.
Modern Tools, Family Focused Service: We have the latest technology—like digital X-rays and our own lab—but we’ll always take the time to sit down and talk through things with you. You deserve clear answers and a steady hand.
Our Word is Our Bond: If your animal has a problem that’s a bit too big for us to handle here, I promise we’ll find you someone who can. We won’t leave you or your animal wandering in the dark.
"In our neck of the woods, we look out for one another. That’s just how it’s done. If you have an animal in need, come on in and see us." — Dr. Cari Schaffer
Life in rural Wisconsin has a rhythm to it, and we’re here to help you and your animals through every beat. From the joy of a new addition to the difficult goodbyes, you can count on us to be there with a kind word and professional care.

The Lancaster Vet Clinic is a mixed animal practice. We work with all kinds of large and small animals. Anyone who needs help with their livestock or pets is welcome to contact us. If we can’t help you, we will find someone who can. The clinic is owned by veterinarians Sally Harper and Cari Schaffer.
You and your family are invited to our annual Client Appreciation Party at the clinic on Friday July 27 from 3-7 pm. We had a great turnout last year on Friday evening, so we decided to try that again.
We will have free food and beverages and fun and door prizes and lots of things for kids to do. We are planning on having food in the garage and activities in a tent on the south lawn, so everything will be easy to find.
As a pet owner, you look forward to the warmer spring weather because it means you can finally spend more time outdoors with your furry friend. Unfortunately, it also means more exposure to environmental hazards for your dog or cat. This requires awareness of these dangers and active steps on your part to help your pet avoid them.
Next time you come into the clinic, you may see a new face at the front desk and another new face working with the animals. We are happy to introduce to you two new team members at Lancaster Vet Clinic.
Debbie Smith from Cassville is our new full time front desk person. She has a friendly face and a smile that comes to you right through the phone. Debbie loves cats.
Megan Stewart is our new full time certified veterinary technician. A certified vet tech is an animal nurse/lab tech who has completed a two year college program and passed a licensing exam. Megan lives in Boscobel with her bearded dragon (ask for a picture!).
Please welcome our new members and be patient while they get more comfortable with the computer, phone system, and where things are in the building.
